Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could use a sensor as small as a single electron? We are offering a PhD project on a unique instrument, that uses a single spin in diamond as a tiny quantum sensor, to investigate condensed matter physics problems related to magnetism and superconductivity.

Application deadline:

Friday, February 7, 2025

Looking for a PhD project at the interection of semiconductors and quantum technology, in collaboration with several partners across Europe? We offer a PhD position at Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh) on the newly-funded EU project QuSPARC.

Application deadline:

Sunday, November 24, 2024

A PhD position is available in the quantum information science group of Animesh Datta at the University of Warwick. The theoretical PhD project will develop schemes for spectroscopy of complex quantum systems using quantum states of light. It will exploit the tools of quantum metrology for precisely estimating parameters of quantum matter systems coupled to quantum and classical environments. Instances include the estimation of parameters such as transition energies, dipole moments, and coupling strengths of molecules in natural or artificial environments.

Application deadline:

Wednesday, October 30, 2024

We will have openings for a PhD and Postdoc positions at the Quantum Algorithmics group at the University of Augsburg. The anticipated starting date is spring 2025.

We are looking for candidates who:

- Enjoy working creatively with numerical methods and heuristic exploration
- Motivation to work on scientific code and software development
- Strong interest in physical concepts and their utilization
- Master's degree/PhD in: Computer Science Physics, Chemistry, or Math (including interdisciplinary programs)

Application deadline:

The International Max Planck Research School for Chemistry and Physics of Quantum Materials is a joint PhD program between the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids in Dresden, Germany, Technische Universität Dresden and the University of St Andrews, Scotland. By working together, we create a highly attractive overall package of PhD level research on quantum materials. We seek to recruit several PhD students in 2025 for a variety of exciting research projects in the fields of condensed matter physics and solid-state chemistry.

Application deadline:

Sunday, November 3, 2024

Lund University’s Quantum Information Group is seeking qualified applicants for a research position focused on developing a small quantum processor node, where the qubits consist of individual ions of rare-earth elements (lanthanides). Such a processor node is a key unit that can be used in several quantum technologies, including quantum computing and quantum communication.

Application deadline:

Saturday, November 30, 2024

The Vigo Quantum Communication Center (https://vqcc.uvigo.es) at the University of Vigo (Spain) invites applications for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in experimental quantum optics. You will work in the new quantum computing lab under the supervision of Professor Alexander Lvovsky (https://quantech.group/). The project is aimed at constructing a quantum optical neural network for combinatorial optimization.

* Selection criteria [for postdocs]

The Nonequilibrium quantum dynamics group (https://www.pks.mpg.de/nqd ) at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems (https://www.pks.mpg.de/) in Dresden (Germany) is looking to hire a PhD student to work at the intersection of quantum many-body physics and reinforcement learning (RL).
