The research group of Associate Professor Jarryd Pla has an opening for a Post-Doctoral Fellow. In this role, you will conduct simulations, design, and experimental work on superconducting quantum devices to perform quantum-noise-limited measurements at elevated temperatures (> 1.5 Kelvin). Quantum technologies that operate at microwave frequencies—such as quantum computers, sensors, and spectrometers—must be cooled near absolute zero (-273°C) using highly complex and expensive refrigerators to clearly detect their signals. This position aims to develop new devices and techniques that facilitate signal detection from microwave quantum technologies (with a focus on quantum computers) at higher temperatures, enabling their use in significantly more affordable refrigeration systems.
