QWorld and University of Latvia are inviting to the second edition of graduate-level course QCourse511 “Quantum Computing and Programming”!
This edition is free, fully online, and open for graduate-level students from all around the world, with given priorities to the students from Latvia, Ukraine, local partners, the QWorld network, and the QTEdu network. Our quota is limited to 400 students.
As Quantum Application Developer for Combinatorial Optimization (m/w/d), you will communicate with our customers to find solutions on our photonic quantum computing platform for their needs in mathematical optimization. You will understand their combinatorial optimization challenges and reformulate the problem such that it can be addressed with algorithms of our quantum computing software stack. In your working flow, you will closely collaborate with our quantum software and quantum algorithms team to understand the current and future capabilities and limits of our quantum computing stack.

As a PhD candidate in Photonic Quantum Computing (m/w/d) at Q.ANT, you will perform studies on universal approaches for photonic quantum computing. You will focus on investigating new ways to prepare high-fidelity resource states required for universal quantum computing. Within the framework of a public research project, you will be jointly supervised in collaboration with a leading-edge professor at a renowned research university (Technical University of Denmark). This will allow you to build up experience in both the university- and industry-based quantum technology research.
Application deadline:
Thursday, September 15, 2022
We are inviting applicants for a PhD and for a postdoctoral position in quantum information theory.
The successful candidates will work on current topics in quantum computing, specifically on the design of quantum algorithms and on the certification of quantum computers. These positions will be integrated into the successful and growing landscape of quantum technology projects in the region, including the Cluster of Excellence Matter and Light for Quantum Computing, and the quantum computer demonstrator project QSolid.

As part of our team, you will take responsibility for researching and developing algorithms for quantum computing in chemical-pharmaceutical applications. You will be embedded in a team that is currently being built up, with the opportunity to help shape and contribute to it. The department "Interactive Engineering Technologies" conducts research and development in the area of geometric and physical modeling as well as in the area of simulation and optimization, especially using Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) as co-processors to accelerate computations. This expertise in heterogeneous computing forms the basis for the identification of suitable problems as well as the portable and reusable implementation of quantum algorithms, where quantum computing requires fundamentally different approaches and ways of thinking. These developments contribute to the Center for Applied Quantum Computing (ZAQC), which is currently being established and in which you can be involved from the beginning. The results will serve customers from different industries, e.g., chemistry, pharmaceuticals, transportation, etc.
