A postdoc position is available in the group of Yoichi Ando at the University of Cologne. We are researching topological quantum computing based on superconductor/topological-insulator hybrid devices. Our group has successfully demonstrated Josephson junctions based on state-of-the-art topological insulator materials that are synthesized in-house, including exfoliated BiSbTeSe2 flakes, MBE-grown (Bi,Sb)2Te3 thin films, and VLS-grown (Bi,Sb)2Te3 nanowires. We are currently focusing on integrating those junctions in devices aimed at realizing Majorana zero modes.

Application deadline:

Applications are invited for PhD scholarships in quantum computation at the National University of Ireland Galway.
Initially, to discuss/formulate a research topic for the application, contact Dr. M. Mc Gettrick at michael.mcgettrick@nuigalway.ie.
The full details of the application procedures, eligibility, etc. are at http://www.nuigalway.ie/hardiman-scholarships/

Scope of work:
We are looking for a co-investigator in a H2020 EURAMET EMPIR 18SIB05 ROCIT „Robust Optical Clocks for International Timescales” project. The goal of our group is to improve the robustness of optical clocks so that they can run unattended for long periods. More information on http://empir.npl.co.uk/rocit/ and http://famo.fizyka.umk.pl/kl-famo-umk/research-umk/optical-atomic-clock/ pages.
