Warwick Physics seeks to make two academic appointments in the following areas (details at http://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/BDN677/assistant-professor-80766-087/):
Modern Optics/Spectroscopy: Warwick has state-of-the-art facilities for optical spectroscopy (ultrafast and frequency domain) and for microscopy. A new academic appointee would make use of these facilities to develop a significant research activity in a field such as ultrafast spectroscopy, THz spectroscopy, super-resolution imaging, optical and photonic materials, quantum information, quantum imaging, or another area of modern optics.
Functional Materials: A number of groups within Warwick Physics work on the creation and properties of Functional Materials. A new academic appointee would demonstrate synergy with our other research activities whilst also having an ability to exploit novel materials for practical applications. Cross-disciplinary expertise in micro/nanofabrication and an ability to work with industrial partners would be important for an applicant in this area.
Crystal Growth: Warwick has world leading facilities and a strong track record for crystal growth that underpins research activities within the department and beyond. A new academic appointee would have a research focus on growing single crystals, with interesting superconducting, magnetic, or electrical properties, and/or their study at low temperatures, in high magnetic fields and pressures, both in the laboratory and at central facilities, using probes such as neutrons, x-rays, and muons.
At Warwick, Assistant Professor is a tenure track position leading to appointment as an Associate Professor after successful completion of probation. The University of Warwick maintains a global outlook, has affiliates around the globe, and welcomes applicants of all nationality.
We are fully committed to equality of opportunity and encourage application and enquiries from all suitably qualified candidates.
