Application deadline:
Thursday, October 3, 2013
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position in the quantum information group of Professor Vlatko Vedral within the Oxford Martin School Programme on Bio-Inspired Quantum (www.oxfordmartin.ox.ac.uk/institutes/quantum). The selected researcher will collaborate with experimental groups within the Oxford Martin School consortium.
A background in quantum information theory is expected in addition to an understanding of experimental techniques for studying energy transport in biological molecules, as well as an interest in establishing research connections with experimental groups. The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 24 months, with the possibility of extension for a further 12 months.
Applicants should hold a BSc (or equivalent) and a PhD (or very close to obtaining) in physics or a closely related field, research skills in open system approaches to quantum dynamics, quantum optics and many-body physics, quantum information, in particular quantum entanglement in strongly correlated systems, experimentally-testable witnesses of quantum coherence in dynamical quantum systems, ability to work independently and collaboratively, experimental design and data analysis. Experience with numerical modelling and foundations of quantum mechanics will be an advantage.
