Fascinating phenomena can arise when ensembles of quantum particles
interact in a correlated fashion. Emblematic instances are fractional
quantum Hall states, which realize special types of quantum fluids with
extraordinary properties, such as fractionalized charges and anyonic
statistics. In this talk, we will first explore how state-of-the-art
quantum simulation techniques are bringing these concepts into cold-atom
experiments.
Speakers: Prof. Nathan Goldman & Ass. Prof. Julian Leonard

Tuesday, September 2, 2025 to Thursday, September 4, 2025
QuAMP is a biennial international conference on Quantum, Atomic and
Molecular Physics. QuAMP 2025 will be held at the Urban Sciences
Building at Newcastle University, located on the Newcastle Helix
regeneration site in the heart of the city. The meeting will cover
phenomena associated with ultra-cold atomic gases, quantum technologies
and quantum information, quantum and non-linear optics, and precision
measurements.

In the first qmeets talk, Professor Silke Weinfurtner and Dr. Patrik
Svancara from the University of Nottingham will introduce quantum
simulations of curved spacetimes around rotating compact objects like
black holes. They’ll reveal how quantum tornadoes—giant vortices in
superfluid helium—can help decode signals captured by gravitational wave
detectors, bringing us closer to understanding the cosmos.

Centre for Quantum Engineering, Research and Education offers a postdoc position. The candidate should have research experience in atomic and molecular physics/quantum chemistry or/and quantum computing/quantum algorithms. The goal of the researcher will be to develop and test programs to carry out atomic and molecular physics/ quantum chemistry calculations in the quantum computing framework.
Dates:
Tuesday, February 25, 2025 to Wednesday, February 26, 2025
Submission deadline:

The goal of this workshop is to meet and engage with experts across
physics and computer science to discuss how these disciplines intersect
in the study of complex systems and emergent behavior. This workshop
explores how information processing and dynamic systems reveal
complementary perspectives on emergent phenomena. Discover how simple
rules can lead to the complex, unpredictable behaviors observed across
physics and computer science. Inspired by cellular automata, we will
discover how simple rules may manifest in intriguing emergent phenomena
such as phase transitions and neuronal mechanisms.
We offer employment at the position of assistant professor (postdoc
position) in a research group in a project funded by the National
Science Center, Poland within Sonata Bis 13. The candidate must meet
requirements of the National Science Center, in particular have a
doctoral degree obtained not earlier than 7 years before the year of
employment in the project (this period may be extended in the event of
breaks in the scientific career as defined by the Center). A person
employed at the postdoc position cannot be employed under another
employment contract at the same time.

Quantum Optics Lab is located at the Özyeğin University in Istanbul.
Our activities span a large spectrum from development of a intra-campus
quantum network to quantum memories based on cold and hot atomic
ensembles. We also conduct research about quantum imaging using
entangled photon pairs In our group we have an open Post Doctorate
positions as part of a project funded by TUBITAK.
