We have a PhD opening for a motivated student with a
Master’s Degree in Physics, Quantum Engineering, Quantum Information
Science to join the **Quantum Information and Matter Group headed by
Prof. Peter P. Orth at Saarland University, which offers a unique
interdisciplinary research environment in quantum information science
with groups in computer science, mathematics and physics. The successful
applicant will conduct research at the interface of quantum information
science and condensed matter theory. Specific research directions
include quantum algorithms for the simulation of quantum materials and
many-body systems. A focus lies on the implementation of these
algorithms on current noisy intermediate-scale and near-term early
fault-tolerant quantum hardware including the development and use of
quantum error mitigation and quantum error correction methods.

We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher with a PhD
Degree in Physics (or a related field) to join the Quantum
Information and Matter Group headed by Prof. Peter P. Orth at Saarland
University. This is a broad search and potential research
directions include quantum algorithms for the simulation of many-body
systems and their implementations on current hardware, nonequilibrium
dynamics and nonlinear response of correlated quantum matter and
light-control of quantum materials. The research entails both analytical
and numerical work. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal
and written communication skills in English or German and will be able

Quantum Engineering Science and technology (QUEST) group at UMass Lowell invites applications for postdoctoral scholar position in theory and phenomenology of quantum information processing. This position is for a minimum of two years with several possibilities of extensions, and comes with competitive salary and benefits.
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to work on theoretical aspects related to quantum many-body physics. The research will focus in particular on:
- the investigation of non-equilibrium processes in synthetic quantum matter
- the development of protocols for novel engine cycles using non-equilibrium phase transitions

There is an opening for a postdoctoral fellow to work at the QuSys Group at Trinity College Dublin starting around October 2020 with some flexibility in the precise date. The QuSys group is a young, dynamic and international group lead by Prof. John Goold. The Quantum Information Group at University College London (UCL) invites applications for the postdoctoral research position associated to the EPSRC project Scrambling of Quantum Information in Many-Body Systems, working with Dr Lluis Masanes. The goals of this project are: to establish realistic time scales for equilibration processes, to quantify the depth/strength of thermalisation processes, to study the effect of causal structure and conformal symmetry in the previous problems, and to construct unitary designs generated by time-independent interactions.

Quantum simulation is an exceptionally vivid field of research embracing several areas of physics, ranging from atomic, molecular, and optical physics, to condensed-matter, nuclear, gravitational and high-energy physics, as well as quantum information science. The goal of quantum simulation is to address important, yet unsolved quantum Hamiltonians by “synthesizing” them in experimental quantum systems so as to directly measure the properties of these models, otherwise very hard to be handled by classical computations.
