This session explores the role of squeezed resources in advancing
quantum metrology and sensing, focusing on their ability to enhance
measurement precision beyond classical limits. Squeezing, a fundamental
resource in quantum metrology, plays a crucial role in reducing
uncertainties in parameter estimation and improving the sensitivity of
quantum devices. We invite contributions that explore the theoretical
foundations, experimental implementations, and applications of squeezing
in quantum metrology and sensing.
This post is funded by the ‘Integrating quantum sensors with bespoke
quantum error correction’ project supported by the Engineering and
Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The task of Ouyang’s group
at the University of Sheffield considers the integration of quantum
error correction (QEC) with quantum metrology, in particular, the
channel estimation problem. This project will study specialized quantum
error correction codes that maximise the quantum advantage attainable in
the quantum estimation of classical fields, while also considering
reasonable physical constraints that are imposed by the physical
system.
Here, at the University of Sheffield, we are a theory group focussing
on Quantum Error Correction (QEC) and its applications, for example in
Quantum Metrology. We are also interested in fundamental problems in
quantum metrology, such as in multiparameter state estimation (and
applications).
We are located in the lovely city of Sheffield, in the United
Kingdom.
The position is supported by the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum
Technology (WACQT), a 12-year initiative aimed to bring Swedish academia
and industry to the forefront of quantum technology. The centre is
funded mainly by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation with
additional contributions from the participating universities and
industry.
