Application deadline:
Tuesday, December 1, 2015
The Stanford Institute for Theoretical Physics (SITP) invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar position in quantum information science. Areas of interest include core quantum information subjects such as algorithms, communication and fault-tolerance, in addition to connections with other branches of physics. The research group is led by Patrick Hayden, with active participation by other SITP researchers Xiao-Liang Qi (condensed matter), Steve Shenker (high energy theory) and Lenny Susskind (high energy theory).
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to interact with the many other Stanford researchers whose work intersects with quantum information, including: Dan Boneh (post-quantum cryptography), Sean Hartnoll (high energy theory), Mark Kasevich (quantum metrology), Benjamin Lev (quantum matter), Hideo Mabuchi (quantum control), Monika Schleier-Smith (atomic physics) and Jelena Vuckovic (electrical engineering).
A curriculum vitae, publication list, statement of research interests and three letters of recommendation are required. Applications should be submitted through Academic Jobs Online.
Review of applications will begin on December 1, 2015.
Applicants are also encouraged to apply for the It from Qubit Fellowship if their interests intersect with quantum field theory and quantum gravity. Likewise, applicants should also consider applying for the Stanford Nano- and Quantum Science and Engineering Fellowships.
