In this postdoc position Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) computing will be used to treat quantum chemistry problems of industry relevance. For our newly formed theory division located in Toronto, Canada, we are seeking an excellent research scientist to work on various theoretical aspects of quantum computer design and development. This involves, but is not limited to, development of new photonic-based quantum computing architectures, implementation of quantum algorithms to be compatible with the ORCA photonic design and development of tailored fault-tolerant error correcting codes. An important milestone on the way to the photonic fault-tolerant universal quantum computer is a noisy near-term device with limited fault tolerance capabilities. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to its development in close collaboration with the ORCA quantum hardware group.

The Hub, led by the University of York, is a major collaboration between several universities and industrial partners and funding has just been announced for five more years.
