PhD Fellowship Theoretical Physics (Skoltech) -- the theory of quantum algorithms

Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) is an English-speaking international graduate only research university, located just outside of Moscow. Established in collaboration with M.I.T., Skoltech integrates the best Russian scientific traditions with Western research practices.
PhD Fellowships are now being offered to work in Skoltech’s Quantum Lab – lead by Prof Jacob Biamonte at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology.
Experience in quantum theory/computing is not required. Students who have completed or are nearing completion of a masters degree with backgrounds in an area of mathematical sciences with interest in quantum computing are encouraged to apply.
Planned research projects are along the lines of the topics described on DeepQuantum.AI – these topics include the theory and development of variational quantum algorithms:
Quantum Enhanced Algorithms for Machine Learning
Network Information Theory – contrasting stochastic and quantum physics
Tensor Networks
Hamiltonian Complexity
The PhD course takes a minimum of three years but normally it takes four years. Those accepted into this program will receive (i) a tuition waiver (covering the full price of tuition) as well as (ii) a stipend (tax free) and (iii) medical insurance.
