We cordially invite you to join us for a celebratory conference commemorating the 30th anniversary of the first paper on weak values by Aharonov, Albert and Vaidman. The conference will be held at Chapman University from March 1st – 2nd, immediately to be followed by another Chapman conference on Quantum Simulation and Quantum Walks from March 3rd – 4th, which you are, of course, very welcome to attend.

Quantum mechanics has been a constant source of innovation for over a century, and is now opening the door to a new age of information technologies. Identifying the key quantum structures and developing new concepts and methods can accelerate the progress, facilitating the development of new information-processing protocols and the discovery of new connections with other areas of physics.

The quest to create complex synthetic quantum systems from the bottom up is currently one of the most active and exciting areas of physics. It promises the ability to study new and advanced quantum mechanical effects for fundamental science and applications in quantum engineering. Typical experimental systems in this area are cold atoms and ions, nano-resonators, semiconductor quantum dots or superconducting quantum interference devices, with new and exciting ones added regularly. All of these allow large experimental control and detailed theoretical understanding.

Welcome to the First Edition of the International Conference for "Young Quantum Information Scientists" (YQIS),made by young researchers for young researchers (PhD students and post-doctroal fellows).

Initiated by Alain Aspect (Institut d'Optique Graduate School) and Sébastien Tanzilli (University Nice Sophia Antipolis), the first edition of YQIS will be held at the Institut d'Optique Graduate School in Palaiseau, France, and is made possible thanks to a fraction of the 2013 Balzan Prize awarded to Alain Aspect for his pioneering work in the field of quantum information and communication.

Dear Colleagues,

The First International Workshop on Trustworthy Quantum Information will be held in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, from June 28 (Sunday) to July 2 (Thursday) 2015, when the annual Ann Arbor Summer Festival (a2sf.org) is approaching the finale. The workshop’s website is TyQI.org/2015/.

Advanced materials and quantum technology are areas of significant strength and recent investment within the UK. The Advanced Materials for Quantum Technology workshop will
build on this momentum to provide a forum for researchers in both fields to come together to discuss recent progress and future research strategy. It will consist of a series of invited
presentations given by scientists at the forefront of Materials Science and Quantum Technology, along with a poster session to encourage contributions from early career researchers.

The workshop will cover a broad range of topics in quantum control, from fundamental questions to technological applications. It will consist of a first part focused on information-theoretic aspects of quantum control and complexity, and a second part focused on experimental challenges and nuclear magnetic resonance applications.

The workshop will gather experts and early stage researchers, fostering discussions and exchanges. There will be tutorial lectures, invited and contributed talks, a poster session, and an industry session.
