International Conference on Quantum Physics Of Nature, QUPON 2015:

In the week of 18-22 May 2015 we will celebrate cutting-edge research in quantum science and there are many good reasons for that:

- The UNESCO declared 2015 to be the "International Year of Light"
- The University of Vienna's 650th anniversary.
- The Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology's (VCQ) 5th anniversary

Application deadline:

Thursday, January 22, 2015

Applications are invited from UK or EU nationals for a number of fully-funded PhD positions in the Optics Division of the Department of Physics at the University of Strathclyde, for entry in October 2015 (http://brightrecruits.com/job/6881/phd-positions-in-quantum-technologies).

Since its beginnings one of the main purposes of thermodynamics has been the optimization of devices. Commonly, processes are characterized as optimal if they are maximally fast or maximally efficient. Recent years have seen the development of various theoretical tools which tremendously broadened our understanding of such optimal processes, in quantum mechanics and in classical physics. A particular highlight are so-called shortcuts to adiabaticity -- finite time processes that mimic adiabatic dynamics without the requirement of slow driving.

We are currently offering a postdoctoral position to a highly motivated and well-qualified researcher who intends to enhance his or her career in the fields of quantum information theory and the theory of quantum simulations, funded by the new H2020 grant AQuS on quantum simulators. The successful candidate will work in the research group led by Jens Eisert at the Free University of Berlin. We are a young, internationally visible, leading group in these fields of research, driven by a stimulating climate of open discussion and creative thought.

Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI), Amsterdam, The Netherlands; has vacancies in the Network & Optimization research group for one PhD student and one postdoc in the research project:

"Approximation Algorithms, Quantum Information and Semidefinite Optimization".

Application deadline:

The Quantum Computing Lab in the Centre for Quantum Computation and Intelligent Systems at the University of Technology, Sydney invites applications for PhD positions and expressions of interest for postdocs.

The QC lab works on a wide range of topics including, quantum Shannon theory, computational complexity, many-body physics, quantum error-correction, quantum simulation, and quantum computing architectures. We are particularly interested in mathematically rigorous and interdisciplinary approaches to these topics.

Application deadline:

Sunday, January 19, 2014

Applicants are invited for a postdoctoral position in theoretical and computational quantum thermodynamics.

The candidate should have strong background in quantum optics, quantum information theory and quantum thermodynamics. The successful candidate will conduct research in proposing, modelling and simulating quantum heat engines and quantum thermodynamic devices in nanoscale systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with an international team of engineers and scientist including faculty from biology, physics and electronics departments at Koc University.

Applications are invited for Postdoctoral positions in experimental quantum optics and quantum information at Laboratoire Kastler Brossel (LKB), in Paris (France).
