We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to work on theoretical aspects related to quantum computing with trapped Rydberg ions. The position is funded through the project ‘Brisk Rydberg Ions for Scalable Quantum Processors’ which is financed by the European Union.
The project goals are the following:

(i) To devise and characterise protocols for fast entangling gates using high-lying (Rydberg) states of trapped ions.

Application deadline:

The Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of Cologne is seeking an outstanding junior academic in the field of theoretical quantum science and technologies. Expected directions encompass quantum devices, quantum matter, and quantum information science. Applications must demonstrate experience in at least one of these areas, and show openness to research transcending the boundaries between fields. We invite applications from highly qualified junior scientists with a clear vision regarding their future research, and leadership potential.

We are pleased to announce the third edition of the “Quantum Engineering of Levitated Systems” workshop. Building on the successes of the previous editions, the workshop focuses on recent developments in the field of quantum systems based on levitation by optical, electric and magnetic techniques with a strong emphasis on mesoscopic systems. Since levitated objects are freely suspended, common mechanical dissipation mechanisms that limit many typical micro- and nanomechanical devices are strongly suppressed.

Dates:

Monday, April 11, 2022 to Tuesday, April 12, 2022

QNetworks 2022, an international workshop organised by the UK Quantum Communications Hub, aims to bring together researchers from the Hub programme and similar initiatives across the world to discuss technological challenges and solutions for creating the next generation of quantum communication networks. Sessions will focus on perspective from industry, quantum networks, QKD and entanglement-based approaches, and devices.
