We offer a 3.5-years PhD position for a motivated researcher to join our work on adaptive quantum sensing. Our goal is to develop an automatic quantum sensor, based on a single spin in diamond, enhanced by machine learning algorithms. The sensor will automatically optimize its settings to operate in conditions of maximum sensitivity, minimizing the estimation times.

Boris Tsirelson, the Russian-Israeli mathematician who pioneered research in quantum nonlocality, passed away in January, 2020. Among his contributions to quantum information theory stand out the characterization of quantum XOR games, the discovery of self-testing and, of course, the famous Tsirelson bound.

To honor Tsirelson's legacy, the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI) Vienna is organizing the one-week workshop on quantum nonlocality Tsirelson 2SQRT2.

We welcome applications for a postdoctoral or/and a doctoral position in the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the ‘Johannes Gutenberg’ University of Mainz to work in the ‘NEUQUAM’ research group led by Jun. Prof. Dr. J. Marino (https://sites.google.com/view/nequantumuniv)

The appointed candidate will be a highly-motivated, qualified and independent researcher, keen to join our research team.
