“Beyond IID in Information Theory” started as a workshop in Cambridge, organised by Nilanjana Datta and Renato Renner as a forum for the growing interest in new approaches in quantum information theory to obtain coding theorems in the finite block length regime. Since then, it has grown both in scope and size, now being the most prominent annual conference dedicated to quantum Shannon theory and its applications in quantum information science.

This workshop marks the halfway milestone of the FoQaCiA project, a groundbreaking collaboration between leading researchers from Europe and Canada. Funded through a flagship partnership between Horizon Europe and NSERC, FoQaCiA aims to chart the boundaries between the computational power of quantum devices and classical computers, identifying the “line in the sand” that defines tasks with quantum speedups versus those that remain classically simulable.

Dates:

Sunday, August 24, 2025 to Friday, August 29, 2025

Application deadline:

Saturday, March 15, 2025

The Hybrid Quantum Systems Laboratory (HQL) is led by Nils Johan Engelsen and makes interfaces between cold atoms, photonic integrated circuits and ultrahigh-Q mechanical resonators. We are part of the Quantum Technology division in the Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience at Chalmers University of Technology.

Application deadline:

Wednesday, March 12, 2025

The aim of the role is to realise functional quantum memories using the electronic and nuclear spins of tin-vacancy (SnV) colour centres in nanofabricated diamond chips, using quantum optical control from single confined spins using both optical and microwave fields. The research topics will include the realisation of efficient photon emission, high-fidelity coherent spin control using optical and microwave control, demonstration of spin-photon quantum entanglement, and quantum information transfer and storage in nuclear spin registers.

Application deadline:

Sunday, March 30, 2025

Postdoctoral Position in Quantum Information Theory – University of Valencia

We invite applications for a postdoctoral position at the University of Valencia and IFIC (UVEG-CSIC). The successful candidate will join the research group of Manuel Gessner in quantum information theory and quantum metrology, as part of the Quantum Technology Group at IFIC.
