Atom-photon interfaces for fibres and photonic chips

Efficient atom photon interfaces are the basis for quantum computers, fibre networks or miniaturised quantum sensors. Photons are ideal systems to create entangled states or to carry quantum information, while atoms are well suited for information storage or to mediate interactions between photons.

We are looking for a highly motivated and talented PhD student willing to join the QCAT Quantum Technologies Research Group led by Dr. habil. Magdalena Stobinska and her team undertaking the research project entitled “Integrated optics in time-frequency domain: a new versatile platform for quantum technologies”, funded by the Foundation for Polish Science. It aims at research in the field of theoretical condensed matter as well as theoretical and experimental quantum optics.

A postdoctoral position is available at the Technical University of Dortmund for a motivated and qualified scientist who is interested to continue the development of miniaturised resonators for EPR. These microresonators are optimised for detecting small samples (down to the nanometer range) with high sensitivity. Candidates should have a firm background and proven track record in the field of magnetic resonance and an interest in numerical simulations of the resonators.

The aim of this event is to bring together researchers working in the fields of quantum collective phenomena, coherence, correlations and entanglement, realised using various experimental platforms based on photons in cavities. This area of research has been at the forefront of some of the most promising advances in quantum technologies, with applications across quantum computing, quantum simulation and quantum sensing, as well as the testing of fundamental theories in the lab.

We are seeking two talented and motivated PhD students to work in the field of quantum information theory in the group led by Remigiusz Augusiak. These positions will be based at the Center for Theoretical Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw (Poland) and are funded by the Foundation for Polish Science within the First Team programme.

These are two scholarships to start preferably from June 2018.

Closing date: 17 May 2018. Selected applicants will be invited for an interview which will be held either at the institute or via Skype.
